Happy Hanami Festival at Guppy

If you love japanese food than you have to try the authentic Japanese cuisine at Guppy at Lodhi Colony. I have visited this place almost 2 years back and still this remains my favorite cute little Japanese restaurant in the city. The focus on the food is what I love about this place. Check out my earlier Experience of this place here

So here I am again at Guppy to explore the new Hanami Menu during the Happy Hanami Food festival here where they have curated special drinks and food menu. Hanami ( “flower viewing”) is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the transient beauty of flowers; flowers (“hana”) are in this case almost always referring to those of the cherry. So while the festival is on the restaurant has gone a step ahead to paint it’s wall all over in cherry blossoms. And pink on the other side with Live music Rythm & Bloom. They are playing on Wednesday & Thursday in the evening while in the afternoon on Sunday along with the Sakura Brunch on Sunday

So let me take you through what I had during my happy Hanami Experience at Guppy. They have multiple option in Cocktails as a part of the Hanami menu. Me being a tea tottler I I asked them if I can have one in Mocktails. The manager was kind enough to accommodate and the best part of the Cocktails is they have complete fruit being used in it so I opted for a Ninja Slush

Ninja Slush Rs. 475/- : A cocktail that was made into a Mocktail by removing the alcohol Soju. And this was super cool with Japanese musk melon and kiwi. No preservatives added and no artificial sweeteners added. An absolutely delicious fruitful drink that you can enjoy with the Food.

Moving on to Food, I explored multiple dishes from the Sushis to Salad to dumplings.

Beet and Artichoke Salad Rs. 390/- : If you hate beetroot you must try this Salad. And I seriously mean it. I always say that the ingredients define the taste of a salad and this one by far was the best salad I ever had. Multiple textures of Beet and all of them so palatable. Stuffed beet slices with Tofu was the best and the Plum dressing did the trick of enhancing the flavors. A bit of sweet but you will love it for sure.

Kale & Water chestnuts Dumplings Rs. 480/- : There is a famous saying to the Hanami Festival teasing proverb that is – “dumplings rather than flowers” And with this menu it’s defined. The Dumplings are droolworthy , probably the only dumpling that I liked that had Greens in it too. Amazing blend of the stuffing and nicely streamed. Must try dumpling from the Hanami range. And the best part is it’s dairy free.

Mango & Avocados Creame cheese rolls Rs. 810/- for 8 peices : Now in India it’s the mango season and every food that has real mango in it should be ordered without a thought. So here was this droolworthy sushi from the Hanami menu that has avocados, tonuki fritters , kimchi sauce with a dab of Creame cheese over the ripped mango slices. And this one had a little of my heart for the day

Asparagus and pickled burdock sushi roll Rs. 690/- : if you love sushi you can’t have just one of it so ordered for the another one from the special menu and this one was equally good.

Main course we tried for Garlic friend rice with Tofu and Asparagus streak and this was also very delightful.

And how can we end a meal without talking of the desserts. So there are 2 options in Hanami Menu and both are worth a try

Tokyo Honey toast Rs. 410/- : You can bet your friends on one can’t finish this alone a super dose of sweetness that has got the huge bread loaf glazed with butter and served with 3 scoops of ice cream – macha, Chocolate & Strawberry cheese cake ice cream served with honey, Choco waffers etc.

Over all had an amazing time over the Hanami menu at Guppy. And they are having this special menu till 31st July so check it out if you like Japanese cuisine or any of the food above . And do checkout the complete menu for non Vegetarian options .
