A day at the Park

We new age parents are always racing against time especially when we are in metro cities,Nuclear family , both parents working kids generally get to spend more time with devices than their parents.

Not many of us can change that. But yet we can maximize the time that we spend with them , step out in the sun in the greens away from the chaos of life even if that means a trip to the park around the corner. And trust me you will not regret that.Comes friendly on your pocket as compared to the mall trip and also allows you to get their complete attention. I had been doing this as our weekend ritual for a long time, and All thanks to a Bird watching walk which they attended few years back with CAN Club. To know more about this check out their site http://www.cuckooaboutnature.com

Herein sharing how we spend our few hours by the park.

With the Dogs: Nothing matches the happiness in their eyes when they spot a dog. A thing that was induced while they were little and now it comes naturally to them. And trust me it’s a delightful. Sometimes I am hell scared when they show that love to unknown stray dogs. But then animals do understand emotions better than we humans. They love feeding them , touching them and show their love in their own way. And when a random dog wages its tail it’s all safe.

Exploring new plants : Everytime when I take them to park , I let them explore whatever is around them from the leaves of different plants , flowers etc. But all this with a rule that they can’t pluck anything and that is coded in them now. They will touch the flowers and leaves and will never pluck them.

Grasscutter : They love watering the park, and we are generally in the park while it’s time for the Gardener to water the park and they love it. Kids have eternal love with water. Today we were late so we had the company of the grasscutter. And without help they could not move it a inch. So this was left to be done by the experts. Happy me!!

We spotted a Cameleon : They know that a Cameleon can change colors and they have seen it on the iPad in some wildlife episode. But then watching live and seeing this transformation happen was a delight. whats more important is they wanted to touch it and off course I was holding my strong gaurd around them not stopping them from exploring.

Dragonfly : While I was a kids I loved the after effects of rainy season as you could see so many dragon flies. And many of us have tried tying them to a thread and make them fly. But I was never lucky to touch them the way they could. And trust me it felt so good to see these small things.

Climb the Tree : As a kid I have done it so much while I would go to the village during our summer break. But for the urban kids it’s the park that offers this Experience and it’s truly joyful.

They were I think just a year old when we made them sit on a branch and it’s in them now as a habit.

Butterfly Love : Even I love butterflies and the colors they carry. My little ones go crazy running around them and I don’t mind it till they are not really bothering them too much. The vibe travel faster than anything, so important to make them learn -” you may intend to touch them because you love them but they don’t get that if you are not letting them do their job.” I have repeatedly said this but they will not stop untill they have touched them once done all they will do is keep talking to the butterflies.

Play the outdoor games : Everytime you step out with them try to carry at least 2 outdoor games. Badminton, cricket , handball, frisbee etc. If not anything even a game of run and Chase or any running game works. It’s up to us how we shape them up ,let them be worked up in the park so by the end of it they are hungry and tired. And our Sunday is sorted.

This was all from our 2 hours at the park. In between we played football , Climb the hill but missed to capture that.

Do share what you do with your kids over a park trip. And how you take them away from the screens.

A self proclaimed storyteller who loves food and is a health freak to the core. A person who has got a sense of humor to lighten up the most serious stuff. i love the life as it comes, planning is not my cup of tea since i am coffee lover. I brew my own jokes in all situations and love being my own audience. Happy go lucky is the attitude that i carry around. and i stay away from people who throw attitude(cant understand why they carry the weight of their attitude when all they can do is to throw it on others )
