Ditch the flight & Catch the Train

Travel is the best dope. People learn more while they travel and no doubt travel still is the best form of vacation. So while being on a Train Journey from Jaipur to Delhi after being ditched by the high fare due to weekend, something hit me that made me realize why we glorify air travel when the railways is probably much better not just cheaper.

So here’s a quick comparison on both these modes of traVel.

Train fare are cheaper ! Yes, Off course that goes without saying, Air travel is definitely costly than the train. So let’s look at what train has to offer that is missing in Air Travel

#No Additional charge for additional Luggage : We Indians love everything that’s is free. Unlike flights , train travel never budgets your luggage and their is no limit to cabin or check-in luggage. First come, first serve basis & we Indians carry as much as we like.

#No extra charge for aisle seat : most of the airlines charge extra for aisle seat and here in train no one has to pay extra for upper. Lower, middle, window or side seat. And it is no less than a gamble.

#Train journeys are about variety of Food & Food vendors : Nothing beats the flavor of garam Samosha, elaichi Chai, And now Namkeen Bolo, biscuit Bolo, chips Bolo, cake Bolo etc etc… However flights are a complete transformation to “what you like to have sir / mam?.

Infact the breakfast and lunch / dinner is also a great way to have food.

#Train journeys have tales & talks and Flights are about novels & music: If someone is travelling with family then train travel is a celebration with loads of giggles and laughter. And everyone talks to everyone possible in the vicinity of their eyes, while in flights we hardly do eye contacts. Food sharing can never be a thing of flights.

#Flights are about packed food and Train are about the local food : While the vendors in the train are always around to make you buy anything and everything they sell. Stations serve a great deal of local delicacies Kahin Kullad ki chai, Kahin platform ki alloo puri, Kahin alloo bonda khaane K liye item hazaar. Wahi flight is all about those Sandwiches , pre mix Coffees, & packed food. So you want to explore more food pick up a train travel.

#So much to see & learn between 2 destination : There is so much to see while you travel from one city to another. Every big and small stations not only improves your geography but lots of urban kids get to see more plantation as the train passes the tracks through the village. I had seen pineapple in a field once on my train journey itself. While in Flight it all you do is hop between 2 airports. Hills are my favorite train rides for their view.

# Washrooms are open 24×7 for use: In flights lavatory are only open for use when seat belt sign is off. But Akka train offers a full time washroom, don’t go on Hygiene after all you get what you pay for.

More than that no one commands us in the train like the frequent flight announcements-” please go back to your seats the Seat belt sign are turned on. ”

Sir please put your phone on silent mode we are about to take off.

Please close your table and keep the seats upright

We are preparing for landing please keep your window panes open.

While I always loved my flight trips. But train has given me a new perspective to travel now. I wish I could travel more on trains more frequently.

A self proclaimed storyteller who loves food and is a health freak to the core. A person who has got a sense of humor to lighten up the most serious stuff. i love the life as it comes, planning is not my cup of tea since i am coffee lover. I brew my own jokes in all situations and love being my own audience. Happy go lucky is the attitude that i carry around. and i stay away from people who throw attitude(cant understand why they carry the weight of their attitude when all they can do is to throw it on others )
