The best day in a coffee addicts life is when he or she gets an invite for a coffee roast session. Well this may not be as laughable as any other roast but this coffee evening was beyond just good coffee and good food. There was so much coffee for thought that one’s mind is ought to get caffeinated.
So no prize for guessing the venue well off course it was cafe Pluck at Hotel Pullman at Aerocity New Delhi. And this was a coffee loaded evening when we got to go through the entire process of coffee roasting to a refreshing coffeelicious evening.
The green coffee beans that might not look very green but it’s the raw coffee beans which are definitely not much palatable. So how we make such an addict able drink out of not so palatable coffee beans, well the trick is in roasting them and it’s an art for sure. At Pluck cafe they do it with Probat machine which is one of its kind and only 2 such machines are available in India one is here and the other in Mumbai.
Well that’s the terminator machine that does the trick right for a perfect cuppa and turns our not so green coffee beans into roasted brown coffee beans that’s what a perfect coffee is all about. the temperature various from 100 to 155 degree during the roasting.
So what happens in a coffee roasting machine well, off course the coffee beans are roasted at a temperature above 100 degree centigrade and this process take 15 to 20 minutes when the color of coffee changes and this process is closely monitored so that the result is a perfectly roasted beans to make a great cuppa.
Just have a look at the colors as you move from C to E of coffee on the plate. And while this goes on you cab actually smell the coffee and the aroma gets even stronger when these perfect roasts are grounded.
Now why I titled this blog as coffee for thought. Well that’s in the pictures that will follow with sufficient quotes on coffee to make you Ponder on how true that is. Take a coffee for thought tour from the walls of Cafe Pluck followed by 3 coffee that i tried today at cafe pluck.

Now lets explore a few cuppa out of 15 world famous coffee i could try my hands on. probably this was my first ever time when i had 3 different kinds of coffee in one go.
From Italy –
Caffè macchiato, sometimes called espresso macchiato, is an espresso coffee drink with a small amount of milk, usually foamed. the literal meaning of Macchiato is strained or spotted. in this case spotted is with milk, which means hardly any milk.
The caffè macchiato has the highest ratio of espresso to milk of any drink made with those ingredients. The intent is that the milk moderates, rather than overwhelms, the taste of the coffee while adding a touch of sweetness so you end up tasting pure coffee. The drink is typically prepared by pouring a small amount of steamed milk directly into a single shot of espresso. and it is consumed with a shot of chilled water.
#Affogato – yet another coffee from Italy. This is another hot and cold concoction where 2 scoops of Vanilla ice cream is topped up with a shot of espresso. and this is super sweet because of overload of ice cream. probably should have had with just one scoop of ice cream.
Esskaffee (Ish Kaffe ) from Germany
this is cold a coffee with ice. The iced latte and iced mocha are examples. There are various brewing methods, with the fundamental division being cold brew – brewing the coffee cold, yielding different flavor, but not requiring cooling – or brewing hot and then cooling, generally by simply pouring over ice or into ice cold milk. In case of hot brewing this can be normally brewed coffee (drip, press pot, etc.), or espresso. In case of hot brewing, sweeteners and flavorings are often mixed into the hot coffee before cooling, due to higher solubility in hot water. in this case it had sugar in the bottom , then milk , then chilled coffee and topped with fresh cream. a word of caution dont sip from bottom , take the straw and stir before you sip to avoid sugar rush.
Had an amazing coffee date and great time at the cafe off course a lot that lingered beyond just the taste of caffeine.
